JOB OVERVIEW:

As a Barista at Le Meridien St Louis Clayton, your primary responsibility will be to create an atmosphere where our guests can savour the good life with inspiring food and beverage. You will champion the Le Meridien Coffee programme by producing and serving signature Illy coffee drinks with hospitality and style.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Food & Beverage

Essential Job Function

  • Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the cafe on a daily basis. This includes requisitioning and stocking of coffee, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and grab & go items based on projections from the daily occupy forecast to ensure product quality.
  • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Makes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes with a sophisticated style.
  • Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to food safety.
  • Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  • Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all moneys.
  • Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to think and communicate clearly in high pressure situations.
  • Ability to move quickly and gracefully throughout the dining room.
  • Demonstrate basic math skills with excellent reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of the menu, ingredients and coffee preparation.
  • Knowledgeable of computer operations and ordering procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of basic sanitation.
  • Ability to work on your feet for entire shift
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 30 pounds
