Who We Are Looking For

As a Starbucks Barista you are responsible for providing guests with courteous, friendly, sincere, efficient and graceful service that meets or exceeds guest expectations. You will maintain both Starbucks and Read House standards for product and service.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction utilizing both company and Starbucks standards
  • Provide a warm and engaging first impression for all guests and show courteous, attentive, and efficient service
  • Know all menu items and ingredients and prepare all orders consistently
  • Answer phones using appropriate verbiage
  • Take, prepare, and serve all food items and drink orders to Starbucks standards with efficiency and friendliness
  • Collect payment from guests, issue receipts and change; abide by all cash handling procedures
  • Abide by all company and state guidelines regarding food handling and food safety
  • Maintain service and sanitation standards according to health code regulations
  • Inventory and restock supplies as needed
  • Maintain the daily operations of the café through the execution of daily side work, including usage of Starbucks “clean play” responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping floors; wiping counters, tables, and chairs; breaking down packaging and boxes, disposal of garbage to dumpster
  • Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance with the ability to work a flexible schedule which may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays when business requires.

Job Requirements

Education/ Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior cash handling experience required
  • Hospitality or customer service experience preferred
  • Prior barista/ coffee shop experience highly desirable

Skills

  • Ability to multitask in a high-demand, fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills with guests, team members, and management
  • Proficiency in restaurant POS and inventory applications
  • Ability to work efficiently with strong attention to detail

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds
  • Position self in order to obtain necessary supplies and efficiently clean assigned areas
  • Hear at basic level and communicate effectively with coworkers and guests
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Promote cooperation to work among team members and others
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-demand, fast-paced environment with changing variables

Work Environment

  • The work environment includes high guest contact; may involve varying conditions and circumstances with guests, staff, visitors, etc.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • This position requires the ability to work in temperatures of varying degrees
