Role Description The Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Brick, NJ. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting the General Manager in driving exceptional guest experiences, coaching and developing team members, maintaining operational standards, and ensuring the cafe runs efficiently every day.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, solutions-oriented leader who enjoys working alongside their team, takes initiative, and leads by example. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow into a General Manager position.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in overseeing day-to-day cafe operations
- Lead, coach, and motivate the team during shifts
- Deliver exceptional hospitality and resolve guest concerns professionally
- Ensure beverage quality and food standards are consistently met
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
- Maintain inventory, ordering, and product organization
- Uphold cleanliness, food safety, and health department standards
- Monitor labor, productivity, and operational efficiency
- Help execute company initiatives and maintain a positive team culture
Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience within in coffee, food service, retail, or hospitality preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to give clear directions and provide constructive feedback.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
- Passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding customer experiences.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to maintain composure in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience with specialty coffee is a plus, but a willingness to learn is equally valued.
