Our coffee house is a cozy haven for locals and visitors alike, where stories are shared, and memories are made over every cup. We are seeking a Barista to join our team and play a key role in expanding our mission of connection and hospitality through an extraordinary coffee service.


JOB OVERVIEW

As a Barista at Asulon Collective, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and crafting high-quality coffee beverages for our guests. This role requires attention to detail, a passion for coffee, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.


(Note: The following duties are typical of those performed by this role. Other related duties may also be performed. Incumbents may not necessarily perform all the duties listed.)


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and specialty drinks, according to established recipes and standards, while also assisting with basic food preparation such as pastries, sandwiches, or other menu items as needed.

● Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring quality and consistency in every drink, and maintain cleanliness and proper functionality of food prep equipment

● Greeting customers warmly, taking orders accurately, and answering questions about menu items and ingredients, providing recommendations as needed.

● Process transactions using a POS system, handle cash and card payments, and maintain accurate cash drawer balances.

● Maintain cleanliness and organization in the café, including the coffee bar, seating areas, and restrooms, following health and safety guidelines and sanitation procedures.

● Assist with stocking and replenishing coffee beans, syrups, cups, and other supplies, and notify management of inventory needs or equipment issues.

● Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations, communicate effectively, and support each other in providing excellent service to customers.

● Integrity: Handle POS systems, cash, and operate the cash register and accuracy


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

● Passion for Coffee: Prior experience in coffee preparation is preferred, but a genuine love for coffee and willingness to learn is prioritized.

● Customer-Centric: A friendly, welcoming personality with excellent communication skills. Ability to promote products and upsell when appropriate.

● Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on quality and consistency in preparing beverages.

● Team-Oriented: Willingness to work collaboratively and contribute to a positive, supportive work environment.

● Flexibility: Ability to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.

● Work Ethic: Dependable and able to handle a fast-paced environment, sometimes noisy environment, while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor. Works well under pressure and can respond to edits, make changes to orders quickly both efficiently and with kindness.

● Effective communication - Talking with others to convey information clearly. Have a proactive mindset to solve problems, be able to communicate directly with team lead or management to solve problems.

● Service Orientation - Actively looking for ways to help people.

● Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

● Time Management: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently. Must have a source of reliable transportation.

● Equipment and Product Handling: Ability to handle all equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, other coffee or food equipment. Mobility to lift product and navigate shelving both high and low

● Minimum Requirements: Reading, writing and basic math skills for measuring ingredients and handling transactions.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

● Capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

● The ability to lift and carry supplies (e.g., bags of coffee, milk cartons) weighing up to 30 pounds.


REQUIREMENTS

● Must be 16 years of age

● Previous experience in customer service, food and beverages, or hospitality industry preferred, but not required.

● Passion for coffee and willingness to learn about different coffee varieties, brewing methods, and flavor profiles.

● Friendly and outgoing personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

● Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.

● Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.


SCHEDULE

● Full-Time/Part-Time

● 12-30 hours per week, Monday-Saturday (occasional Sunday events)
