Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is seeking an energetic and guest-focused Barista/Cashier to provide quick, efficient, and professional service to our guests. In this role, you will prepare specialty coffee beverages, process transactions, and ensure a welcoming and clean café environment that reflects Omni’s high standards of hospitality.

Responsibilities

Guest Service & Operations

  • Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service to all guests
  • Prepare and serve coffee beverages and food items according to established standards
  • Accurately process guest transactions including cash, credit cards, and room charges
  • Maintain a cash bank and follow proper cash handling procedures
  • Verify guest room numbers when processing room charges
  • Communicate effectively with guests and associates to ensure guest needs are met
  • Address guest questions or concerns in a professional and timely manner

Café & Work Area Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, service areas, and equipment
  • Coordinate with housekeeping to ensure lobby and public areas remain clean and presentable
  • Follow all food safety and proper food handling procedures
  • Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained properly

Inventory & Administrative Support

  • Assist with monthly inventory and stock control
  • Adhere to company policies regarding employee purchases and transactions
  • Interact with other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of cash handling experience required
  • Previous barista, café, or food & beverage experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain professional and positive in all situations
  • Ability to listen, understand, and respond effectively to guest and team member concerns
  • Understanding of proper uniform and grooming standards
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment

Work Environment

  • Work performed primarily inside the hotel café, restaurant, and kitchen areas
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and food & beverage environments
  • Interaction with food products, beverages, and cleaning chemicals

Tools & Equipment

  • Espresso machine and coffee brewing equipment
  • Coffee pots and beverage machines
  • Pizza oven and toaster
  • Microwave and refrigeration equipment
  • Bus trays, dishware, silverware, and glassware
  • Telephone and point-of-sale system
  • Standard office equipment (computer, printer, copier, telephone)
  • Corporate software programs such as Kronos WFC, OpenTable, Synergy, and Epitome
