Role Description This full-time, on-site Barista role is based at LABORA CAFE in North Park, San Diego, CA. The Barista prepares and serves high-quality espresso drinks, specialty coffee, and matcha beverages, following café recipes and presentation standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include taking customer orders, operating coffee equipment, handling food preparation for pastries or light snacks, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. The role involves providing welcoming, attentive customer service, answering questions about menu items and ingredients, and supporting an atmosphere that reflects Labora’s focus on modern hospitality. The Barista also assists with restocking supplies, managing POS transactions, and collaborating with team members to ensure smooth café operations throughout each shift.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong customer-facing skills, including Interpersonal Skills, Communication, and Customer Service abilities.
  • Candidates should possess practical Barista skills, including experience with espresso machines, coffee brewing techniques, and specialty beverage preparation.
  • Candidates should possess Food Preparation skills, including safe handling of ingredients, basic food safety knowledge, and attention to cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Previous experience in a specialty coffee shop, café, or hospitality environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, work in a fast-paced setting, and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Reliable time management, collaboration skills, and a commitment to consistent, high-quality service.
  • Interest in coffee, matcha, and contemporary café culture, with willingness to learn and grow with the brand.
