About Leon’s Bagels

Leon’s Bagels is a New York City bagel shop named for the owner’s godfather, Leon. His warm hospitality and gift for bringing people together guide everything we do. We want our shop to feel like a true neighborhood spot, a place where guests can connect and feel at home over a simple bagel.

Our approach is “Nothing Fancy”: give guests exactly what they want, made with care. Our menu is built around classic New York–style bagels that are kosher, hand-rolled, kettle-boiled, and baked fresh every day.

The Role

As a Barista at Leon’s Bagels, you’ll make and serve coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages, and help with bagel and food prep throughout the day. You’ll greet guests, take orders, handle payments, and make sure every guest gets fast, accurate, friendly service.

What you’ll do:

Prepare coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages

Support bagel and food prep throughout the day

Greet guests, take orders, and process payments

Keep third-party delivery orders (DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.) organized and ready on time

Keep your workstation clean, organized, and stocked

Follow food safety and hygiene standards

Help with opening and closing duties as needed

Work with the team to keep service smooth during busy rushes

What We’re Looking For

Strong customer service and communication skills, with a genuine love of making people feel welcome

Barista experience or familiarity with coffee and espresso drinks, and comfort with café equipment

Food prep skills, including basic knife skills, assembling menu items, and following food safety and sanitation standards

Reliability and punctuality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

A commitment to an inclusive, respectful workplace and to treating every guest with care

Café, bakery, or hospitality experience is a plus but not required. A willingness to learn is a must.

Requirements

Full-time availability, including weekends (a must), mornings, and holidays as needed

Able to stand and work on your feet for 8+ hours

Able to lift up to 30 lbs

Able to climb stairs and ladders

Able to hear audible cues and taste coffee

Comfortable with repetitive hand and wrist movements throughout the day

NYC Food Protection Certificate in possession or working towards
