The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso beverages, and light food items in accordance with Peet’s Coffee standards while delivering exceptional guest service consistent with the hotel’s service culture. This role creates a welcoming and efficient café experience for hotel guests and visitors.
Duties/Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso beverages, and light food items in accordance with Peet’s Coffee standards while delivering exceptional guest service consistent with the hotel’s service culture. This role creates a welcoming and efficient café experience for hotel guests and visitors.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, and specialty beverages following Peet’s recipes and presentation standards
- Provide prompt, friendly, and personalized service to all guests
- Accurately take orders and process transactions using the POS system
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including counters, equipment, and seating areas
- Restock products, supplies, and merchandise as needed
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food and beverage items (FIFO)
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines
- Maintain knowledge of menu offerings and make recommendations to guests
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cash handling and reporting
- Support hotel operations by assisting other departments when needed (especially during peak periods)
- Uphold brand standards for both Peet’s Coffee and the hotel
- Adhere to all Health Department rules and regulations and brand standards
- Must be responsible for security of guests, fellow employees and hotel assets
- Must have completed required brand training program
- Must perform any other required duties as requested by the General Manager to aid in better operation of the hotel, restaurant, lounge, and service to the guests.
- Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, employee issues, etc.
- Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- Basic math skills and cash handling experience
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, staying on your feet, climbing stairs, carrying heavyweights.
- Must be able to communicate effectively by writing, telephone and personal meeting situations.
- Must be neat in appearance at all times.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and Holidays.
- Must be honest and work well with others.
- Previous barista or food & beverage experience preferred
- None.
- Stand/walk on feet for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment.
- Finger dexterity to type, to write, and work on a computer or micros machine.
- Must speak in a clear, understandable voice and hear at a basic level, and understand English.
- Must be able to bend, stretch arms overhead and lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
