Job Summary:

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso beverages, and light food items in accordance with Peet’s Coffee standards while delivering exceptional guest service consistent with the hotel’s service culture. This role creates a welcoming and efficient café experience for hotel guests and visitors.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, and specialty beverages following Peet’s recipes and presentation standards
  • Provide prompt, friendly, and personalized service to all guests
  • Accurately take orders and process transactions using the POS system
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including counters, equipment, and seating areas
  • Restock products, supplies, and merchandise as needed
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food and beverage items (FIFO)
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines
  • Maintain knowledge of menu offerings and make recommendations to guests
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cash handling and reporting
  • Support hotel operations by assisting other departments when needed (especially during peak periods)
  • Uphold brand standards for both Peet’s Coffee and the hotel
  • Adhere to all Health Department rules and regulations and brand standards
  • Must be responsible for security of guests, fellow employees and hotel assets
  • Must have completed required brand training program
  • Must perform any other required duties as requested by the General Manager to aid in better operation of the hotel, restaurant, lounge, and service to the guests.
  • Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, employee issues, etc.
  • Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
  • Basic math skills and cash handling experience
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, staying on your feet, climbing stairs, carrying heavyweights.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by writing, telephone and personal meeting situations.
  • Must be neat in appearance at all times.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and Holidays.
  • Must be honest and work well with others.

Education And Experience

  • Previous barista or food & beverage experience preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand/walk on feet for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment.
  • Finger dexterity to type, to write, and work on a computer or micros machine.
  • Must speak in a clear, understandable voice and hear at a basic level, and understand English.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch arms overhead and lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
