Role Description The Barista is a full-time, on-site role located in Olathe, KS, responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and other specialty drinks to patients, visitors, and staff. Daily tasks include operating coffee equipment, following standardized recipes, handling food preparation for pastries and light snacks, and maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with health and safety standards. The Barista greets and assists guests, processes cash and electronic payments, and ensures orders are completed accurately and efficiently. This role collaborates with team members to keep supplies stocked, support smooth café operations, and contribute to a welcoming environment that reflects the health system’s commitment to excellent service.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to provide a welcoming, patient-focused experience.
- Barista experience or demonstrated ability to prepare coffee and espresso-based beverages and handle food preparation safely.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, including standing for extended periods and handling multiple orders.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills, with attention to accuracy in transactions.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices; prior experience in food service or hospitality is beneficial.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; willingness to complete required health system training and certifications.
