Role Description The Barista/Cashier is a part-time, on-site role based in Whittier, CA. In this position, you will prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages according to shop recipes and standards. You will greet guests, take orders, operate the point-of-sale system, handle cash and card transactions accurately, and provide attentive, friendly customer service. Daily tasks include maintaining a clean and organized workstation, restocking supplies, cleaning equipment and seating areas, and following food safety and hygiene guidelines. You will also assist with light food preparation, answer questions about the menu, and collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operations during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills, including clear communication, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to handle guest concerns professionally.
• Basic cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) skills, with attention to accuracy in processing payments and issuing change or receipts.
• Ability to learn and follow drink recipes, operate coffee equipment safely, and maintain consistency in beverage quality.
• Strong time management and multitasking skills to handle multiple orders, maintain cleanliness, and support team members during peak hours.
• Reliability in attendance, punctuality, and adherence to assigned schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry supplies up to approximately 25 lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous barista, café, or food service experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn and follow training is essential.
• Commitment to food safety, sanitation standards, and a respectful, inclusive workplace for colleagues and guests.
• Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) certification required.
