Role Description The Barista/Event Lead is an on-site role based in Hyattsville, MD, responsible for preparing and serving high-quality espresso and specialty beverages at events while leading smooth coffee cart operations. This role includes setting up and breaking down the mobile coffee cart, managing supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout each event. The Barista/Event Lead greets guests, takes and fulfills beverage orders, handles payments, and ensures a friendly, efficient, and memorable experience for all attendees. This position also coordinates with event organizers, supports minor customization needs, and helps troubleshoot operational issues as they arise. The role requires flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, based on event bookings.
Qualifications
- Strong customer-facing skills, including Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills, to engage guests warmly and professionally at events.
- Hands-on Barista experience, including espresso preparation and drink customization, with attention to quality and consistency.
- Clear, professional Communication skills to coordinate with clients, vendors, and team members before and during events.
- Food Preparation knowledge and safe handling practices to support beverage service and maintain sanitation standards.
- Ability to lift and move event equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced, on-site event environment.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and organizational skills, with comfort working independently or leading a small team on-site.
- Previous event, hospitality, or catering experience is preferred; familiarity with mobile coffee or food service is a plus.
