Position Summary
The Café Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of WhirliDogs Café while supporting our mission of providing meaningful job training and employment experiences for young adults with and without disabilities. This role oversees café operations, team leadership, customer experience, staff development, scheduling, food safety, and overall business performance. The Café Manager creates an environment where teammates can build skills, confidence, and independence while ensuring customers receive excellent service and a welcoming experience.

The Café Manager plays a key leadership role within WhirliDogs by connecting the organization’s mission with its daily operations. This position works closely with organizational leadership, staff, volunteers, trainees, and community partners to ensure the café serves as both a successful business and a meaningful training environment. The Café Manager helps turn WhirliDogs’ mission into daily action by creating opportunities for teammates to gain skills that lead to greater independence and future employment success.
Qualifications
Previous experience in food service, restaurant management, hospitality, or café operations preferred OR experience working with individuals with a variety of disabilities and support needs.
Candidates with strength in one area and a willingness to learn the other are encouraged to apply; training and support will be provided.
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to coach, mentor, and support teammates in a positive and encouraging environment.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of food safety practices and ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain certification).
Passion for inclusion and supporting individuals in building skills and independence.
