Coffee Roaster

We are seeking a passionate, organized, and detail-oriented Coffee Roaster to join our growing coffee company. This position is responsible for roasting high-quality coffee, managing green coffee inventory and ordering, supporting wholesale customer relationships, and contributing to sales growth. The ideal candidate combines technical roasting skills with strong communication, operational awareness, and a passion for specialty coffee.

Key Responsibilities

• Coffee Roasting & Production
• Roast coffee according to established roast profiles and production schedules
• Monitor roast development, batch consistency, and quality standards
• Perform cupping and quality control evaluations to maintain flavor consistency
• Adjust roast profiles based on coffee characteristics and seasonal variations
• Package, label, and organize roasted coffee for retail and wholesale fulfillment
• Maintain accurate production logs and inventory records
• Ensure roasting equipment is cleaned and maintained properly
• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe production environment

Green Coffee Purchasing & Inventory

• Monitor green coffee inventory levels and forecast ordering needs
• Coordinate and place green coffee orders with importers and suppliers
• Track coffee arrivals, inventory rotation, and storage quality
• Assist in evaluating new coffees and seasonal offerings
• Support cost management and inventory efficiency

Wholesale Customer Support

• Coordinate wholesale orders and fulfillment schedules
• Maintain positive relationships with wholesale clients
• Communicate with customers regarding orders, availability, and product recommendations
• Support onboarding of new wholesale accounts
• Assist with training or coffee education for wholesale partners when needed

Sales & Business Development

• Identify opportunities to grow wholesale and retail coffee sales
• Support outreach to cafes, restaurants, hotels, and specialty retailers
• Represent the company professionally at tastings, events, and community functions
• Collaborate on seasonal coffee launches and promotional initiatives
• Help strengthen customer retention through excellent service and product quality

Qualifications

• Previous coffee roasting or specialty coffee experience preferred
• Strong understanding of coffee flavor profiles and quality control
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines
• Comfortable building relationships with customers and vendors
• Ability to lift and move coffee bags up to 60 pounds
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
• Passion for specialty coffee, hospitality, and craftsmanship

Preferred Skills

• Experience with commercial roasting equipment and roasting software
• Knowledge of green coffee sourcing and purchasing
• Experience with wholesale account management or sales
• Familiarity with inventory systems and production planning
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills

Work Environment

• Production and warehouse environment with exposure to heat, noise, and coffee dust
• Combination of roasting, administrative, and customer-facing responsibilities
• Some early mornings or event participation may be required
