The Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon (VRCCO) is breaking from the traditional expectations of a referral or emergency veterinary center by doing something surprisingly obvious. Named in memory of VRCCO's four-legged Chief Morale Officer, Ponch's Place will serve as a gathering place for the people of Bend to enjoy food, drinks, and help VRCCO continue to make connections within the community. An expert at making lasting bonds and bringing a smile to people's faces, dedicating this space to Ponch's memory made perfect sense. Ponch's Place has room to house at least four food trucks as well as a beer pavilion.

We are looking for a motivated and personable Coffee Shop Manager to oversee operations at our small café located within a specialty veterinary hospital. This role requires balancing the fast-paced demands of food service with the compassionate environment of a healthcare facility for pets. The manager will ensure smooth daily operations, deliver excellent customer service, and create a welcoming space for hospital staff, clients, and visitors.

Requirements

Operations Management

• Oversee daily café operations, including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory control.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Coordinate café hours and offerings to align with hospital schedules and visitor needs.
  
  

Customer Service

• Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues with professionalism and empathy.
• Provide a warm, supportive atmosphere for pet owners and hospital staff.
• Develop menu specials or promotions tailored to hospital visitors and employees.
  
  

Team Leadership

• Recruit, train, and supervise baristas and support staff.
• Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hospital hours.
• Foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  
  

Financial Oversight

• Monitor sales, track expenses, and manage budgets.
• Implement strategies to increase profitability while maintaining affordable options for hospital staff and clients.
• Prepare regular reports for hospital and café leadership.
  
  

Community Integration

• Collaborate with hospital staff to support events, seminars, or wellness programs.
• Promote the café as a comforting space for pet owners during stressful visits.
• Source local or sustainable products to strengthen community ties.
