From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

The director, coffeehouse enablement – US Licensed Coffeehouses (USLC) role contributes to business success by equipping licensed coffeehouses for sustainable growth and operational excellence. This leader is responsible for building capabilities, driving consistency in execution, and strengthening licensee partnerships through clear communication, structured programs, and operational rigor.

This role sits at the center of enablement—ensuring new and existing coffeehouses are set up for success through strong standards, readiness, and ongoing support—while translating enterprise priorities into practical, field-ready solutions that drive performance across the USLC portfolio.

As a director, coffeehouse enablement you will…

  • Equip coffeehouses for success by building scalable capabilities, tools, and resources that enable consistent execution across licensed locations.
  • Lead openings and operational excellence efforts, including end-to-end training and readiness for new coffeehouses and targeted support for underperforming locations
  • Serve as the “source of truth” for standards and compliance, ensuring clear, accessible guidelines and partnering closely with third-party review processes to uphold brand and operational integrity.
  • Drive communication and engagement strategies that strengthen alignment with licensees, ensuring clarity, consistency, and connection to enterprise priorities.
  • Oversee training, program, and promotional readiness, ensuring licensees are prepared to successfully execute key initiatives and deliver a consistent partner and customer experience.
  • Sustain and evolve the Licensee Success System, embedding routines, tools, and practices that enable long-term performance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead equipment and product operationalization, ensuring new innovations are translated into practical, executable solutions across licensed environments.
  • Partner cross-functionally to align enablement strategies with broader USLC priorities, balancing operational excellence with business growth objectives.
  • Build and develop a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive environment while driving accountability, engagement, and strong business outcomes.
