Role Description The Espresso/Coffee Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL, responsible for servicing commercial espresso machines, coffee brewers, grinders, and related equipment. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine maintenance and calibration, installing new equipment, and completing repairs according to manufacturer specifications. The technician will travel to customer locations in the Chicago area, communicate clearly with clients about service needs and recommended solutions, and document work performed in service reports. The role also involves maintaining an organized inventory of parts and tools, following safety and cleanliness standards, and coordinating with the office team to schedule and prioritize service calls. This position requires reliability, strong technical aptitude, and a commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality service.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess technical skills related to mechanical, electrical, or electronic troubleshooting, particularly in commercial foodservice or beverage equipment.
- Candidates should possess skills in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and reading technical manuals or schematics.
- Candidates should possess customer service and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues in clear, accessible language.
- Candidates should possess time management and organizational skills to handle multiple service calls, maintain records, and manage parts inventory.
- Candidates should possess basic computer literacy for service documentation, email communication, and use of scheduling or ticketing systems.
- Relevant qualifications such as prior experience as a field service technician, facilities maintenance technician, or coffee equipment specialist are beneficial.
- A valid driver’s license, ability to travel within the Chicago, IL area, and capability to lift and move equipment as needed are required.
- Technical training or certification in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC fields, and familiarity with espresso machine calibration and water filtration systems, are a plus.
