About Zado Coffee Company
Zado Coffee Company is a mobile espresso cart based in Denver, Colorado. Started in 2022 by Brady and Mary, we roast our own coffee and make our own syrups in house. We serve weddings, corporate offices, and private events across Colorado.
About the Role
We're looking for a part-time Event Barista to run our coffee cart at events from start to finish.
Most weeks are weekday morning service at recurring corporate accounts. Weekends are typically weddings and private events. When event work doesn't fill the week, remaining hours are scheduled production work at our space.
At events:
- Loading the cart and equipment
- Driving to the venue in a cargo van
- Setting up and dialing in espresso
- Making espresso drinks, including latte art
- Serving guests and keeping the cart running during service
- Breaking down and cleaning the cart
- Returning equipment cleaned and restocked
Between events:
- Roasting support and production
- Syrup and ingredient prep
- Inventory counts and restocking
- Cart cleaning and equipment maintenance
- Preparing load-outs for upcoming events
This job involves early mornings and physical work. Weekday shifts typically start between 5:30 and 6:30am. You should be comfortable moving equipment in the 30 to 50 lb range.
Compensation & Benefits
- $26.00/hour to start
- $28.00/hour after six months for employees meeting the performance benchmarks for the role. You get those benchmarks in writing on your first day.
- Paid for the full event window, from arrival at storage until the cart is returned and put away. A two-hour event is usually a five-hour paid shift.
- Minimum 15 hours/week guaranteed, with more available based on event volume
- W-2, non-exempt hourly employee, paid through Gusto
- Overtime at 1.5x under Colorado law
- Weddings include a 20% gratuity paid evenly to the baristas who worked the event
- On other events, clients can add a tip on the invoice, and it goes to the barista who worked
- Paid sick leave accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked
- No employer-sponsored health insurance or retirement benefits at this time
Requirements
Reliability is the most important requirement. Our corporate accounts run on fixed schedules, and clients count on the cart showing up.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Comfortable driving a cargo van with a cart loaded in the back
- Reliable transportation to our storage location near Wash Park
- Available for early weekday mornings
- Legally authorized to work in the US
Espresso experience is a plus, but not required. We would rather train someone dependable than inherit habits from a high-volume cafe.
