About HOUSE OF MENA
HOUSE OF MENA is a new coffee shop and boutique opening in Mid-City Los Angeles, celebrating the creativity, culture, and hospitality of the Middle East and North Africa.
Our café will serve thoughtfully crafted espresso drinks, turkish coffee, matcha, tea, and signature beverages inspired by flavors from the region, alongside a curated retail experience featuring MENA designers, artists, and makers.
At the heart of HOUSE OF MENA is hospitality. We want our space to feel warm, welcoming, and community-driven - a place where guests are genuinely excited to return and where our team takes pride in making people feel at home.
About the Role
We’re looking for experienced, friendly, and hospitality-driven baristas to join our opening team.
The ideal candidate has previous café experience and is confident working behind an espresso bar, but just as importantly, genuinely enjoys interacting with people. We’re looking for team members who are warm, attentive, dependable, and excited to help us build a welcoming neighborhood café from the ground up.
As part of our opening team, you'll play an important role in establishing the culture and service standards of HOUSE OF MENA.
What You'll Do
- Welcome every guest warmly and provide friendly, attentive service
- Prepare espresso-based drinks, matcha, tea, and HOUSE OF MENA specialty beverages according to our recipes and standards
- Dial in espresso and make adjustments throughout the day to maintain quality and consistency
- Properly steam and texture dairy and alternative milks
- Take orders, answer menu questions, and make thoughtful recommendations
- Learn the ingredients and stories behind our signature MENA-inspired beverages and confidently share them with guests
- Operate the POS system and accurately process transactions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar throughout service
- Restock milk, coffee, cups, ingredients, pastries, and other café supplies as needed
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department standards
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Support fellow team members during busy periods and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
- Help us create the kind of café where guests feel recognized, welcomed, and excited to come back
What We're Looking For
- 1+ year of professional barista experience preferred, ideally in a specialty or high-volume café
- Strong understanding of espresso preparation, grinder adjustment, extraction, and milk steaming
- Comfortable preparing drinks efficiently and consistently during busy service
- Basic latte art skills preferred
- Genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and interacting with guests
- Friendly, warm, and approachable personality
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to take ownership of your responsibilities
- Detail-oriented with high standards for cleanliness and presentation
- Comfortable learning new recipes, ingredients, and beverage techniques
- Ability to remain positive, composed, and welcoming during busy periods
- Availability for a flexible schedule, including mornings and weekends
What Matters Most to Us
We can teach someone our recipes and HOUSE OF MENA way of doing things. What matters most is finding people who care about hospitality, take pride in their work, and genuinely enjoy making people feel welcome.
We want our baristas to get to know our regulars, create meaningful connections with guests, and help build a café culture that feels warm, inclusive, and personal.
If you're passionate about great coffee, thoughtful hospitality, and being part of a new concept from the beginning, we'd love to meet you.
