Role Description The General Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Philadelphia, PA, responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. This role manages front-of-house staff scheduling, training, performance, and culture, while maintaining service standards across the restaurant, café, and bottle shop. The General Manager monitors financial performance, including sales, labor, and cost controls, and collaborates with ownership and culinary leadership on menu initiatives and promotional activities. Daily tasks include supervising floor operations, resolving guest concerns, enforcing health and safety procedures, and ensuring accurate cash handling and inventory management. The General Manager also leads hiring efforts, supports onboarding, and fosters a positive, inclusive work environment aligned with Enswell’s brand and values.
Qualifications
- Experience in restaurant or hospitality operations management, with proven ability to oversee front-of-house service and all-day concepts.
- Skills in team leadership, staff training, scheduling, and performance management to support a collaborative and respectful workplace.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and basic reporting to monitor sales, labor, and profitability.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards, including coffee, wine, and bottle shop operations, with an interest in European-inspired cuisine.
- Ability to handle guest relations, conflict resolution, and high-volume service while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
- Understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements within a restaurant and café environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with proficiency in point-of-sale and scheduling systems.
- Previous experience as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in a comparable setting is strongly preferred; supervisory experience is required.
- Availability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
