General Manager

Market Juice is looking to bring on an General Manager to run the day-to-day operations of a health and wellness focused cafe, stepping into the role the owner has held herself. This person will effectively run the business in the owner's place: full authority over staff, cash, inventory, and daily decisions, with the accountability that comes with it. We are looking for someone with previous experience in a cafe/coffee shop setting and a passion for healthier living.

Our mission at Market Juice is to provide health focused food and beverage items to our community. We strive to serve all customer bases (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, and meat lovers alike) and serve customers products that have as many whole, clean ingredients as possible. We're also launching a baked goods program, growing our menu beyond juice, smoothies, and cafe fare. We have worked hard to create a fun, welcoming environment for our staff and customers. Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

• Create and manage employee schedules, adjusting staffing to match Alaska's seasonal swings in foot traffic
• Recruit, train, and manage staff performance, including termination decisions when necessary
• Serve as the point person for all employee issues and day-to-day problem-solving

Operations & Guest Experience

• Exercise full day-to-day decision-making authority in the owner's absence, acting in the best interest of the business
• Oversee kitchen production, specials development, and our new baked goods rollout, working closely with the head of kitchen operations
• Resolve customer complaints and handle service recovery
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and customers alike
• Uphold current procedures and identify opportunities for new, more efficient processes

Financial & Inventory

• Handle daily cash handling, register reconciliation, and bank deposits
• Manage everyday bookkeeping tasks and payroll
• Manage inventory and ordering, and price out new products while keeping a vigilant eye on cost of goods
• Track basic financial performance (daily sales, labor cost, cost of goods) and report to the owner
• Manage the POS system (Square), including reporting, comps, and voids

Compliance & Standards

• Maintain regulatory compliance with health department standards
• Uphold the standards and ethics of Market Juice

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in operations or store management, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and basic reporting
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of inventory control and stock management, preferably in food, beverage, or retail settings
• Comfort with point-of-sale systems and basic cash-handling procedures; ability to learn new operational tools quickly
• Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and vendors
• Understanding of basic health, safety, and sanitation standards relevant to food and beverage operations
• Proactive problem-solving skills and a focus on process improvement and efficiency
• Prior supervisory or lead experience is preferred; experience in the Greater Anchorage Area market is a plus
• Ability to work on-site during peak business hours, including some evenings and weekends as needed
• High school diploma or equivalent required; further education in business, operations, or hospitality is an advantage

• 1-2 years of experience in the food industry
• Previous experience in food service management is preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and consistency
• Reliable and detail-oriented
• ServSafe Manager Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Passion for healthy living and nutrition

Shift Availability:

Full-time position, with a flexible schedule.

Compensation:

Salary, based on experience.
