Job description

About Origin & Story

Origin & Story is a specialty coffee subscription that features a different roaster every month. One curated experience. We exist to enrich people's relationship with coffee, to make it deeper, more informed, and more connected to the people behind it. We are building a community of patrons who back world-class roasters.

Subscribers receive curated coffee from that month's roaster, the documentary film we produce in their space, and the brew guides the roasters walk them through on camera. They also get the Brew Lab, a daily brewing companion that helps them dial in every bag at home. The bundle is the point: editorial work, education, and brewing guidance, paired with the coffee itself. We are building the most complete and cohesive coffee subscription experience, and the kind few competitors can build. One roaster at a time. No marketplace.

We are self-funded, early stage, and cash flow positive with hundreds of paying subscribers. Product-market fit is here. Direct competitors at millions to hundreds of millions in annual revenue have ordered from us to study what we are building. The ambition is to scale this the right way.

The role

We are hiring a Head of Influencer and Creator Partnerships to own how we show up with creators and affiliates. We are a small team: we move quickly, ship often, and build intentionally together. You scout viable creators, run outreach from first contact through contracting, and carry relationships end to end so we build quality partnerships, not a spray of one-off posts. Instagram is our primary creator surface; TikTok is a second. You work directly with our Chief Marketing Officer on calendar, priorities, and what we want from each wave of partnerships. You work directly with our Chief Brand Officer whenever voice, claims, or how we talk about process and coffee is on the line. The founder stays in the loop on this program too: short threads, early pull-ins, and no bottlenecks from heavyweight process. You work inside a clear attribution system so we only reward what we can measure.

What a month looks like

You maintain a living pipeline of creator and affiliate opportunities. You negotiate structure, deliverables, and tracking. With each creator, you shape creative briefs alongside marketing and brand so the work stays true, feels native to the creator, and still carries clear context on what we sell and how the subscription works. You report on what is live, what converted, and what we learned. Volume shifts with launch cycles and campaign tests.

What you own

  • Scouting, outreach, and creator and affiliate partnerships you originate and manage end to end, with Instagram as the primary surface and TikTok when the partnership calls for it.
  • Creative briefs you build with each creator, marketing, and brand: one thread, early alignment, written so everyone can move without a slow handoff queue.
  • Deal structure, tracking, codes or links, and the operational hygiene that makes attribution credible.
  • Pipeline reporting and post-mortems on campaigns and cohorts.
  • Tiering partnerships from product-for-content through paid where it makes sense for us.
  • A respectful, process-first stance toward roasters and partners. We earn trust slowly.

  • What this seat does not own

    • Corporate B2B accounts or wholesale contracting. That sits with Business Development.
    • Paid media buying and platform strategy inside ad accounts. We handle that with our Chief Marketing Officer.
    • Final brand voice, packaging, or film creative direction. That sits with the Chief Brand Officer. You work together so nothing ships out of bounds. You do not hold the final call on brand.
    • In-house editorial and post-production. Our creative bench produces the core film and brew guide work.

    Requirements

    • Direct-to-consumer (DTC) experience: you have run creator or influencer partnerships for a DTC brand, not only as an agency pass-through unless you owned the relationship, the brief, and the results end to end.
    • Consumer goods background (ideal): subscription, food and beverage, home, or other consumer goods where product truth, retention, and brand trust matter as much as reach.

    Who succeeds here

    • You have shipped creator or influencer partnerships where the work was brand-aligned and high quality, not commodity volume, and where you could show measurable outcomes in DTC (consumer goods experience is a strong plus).
    • You are comfortable on Instagram as the primary surface and can extend or adapt plans for TikTok when the partnership calls for it.
    • You think in collected revenue and retention, not vanity reach alone.
    • You can explain how you attributed outcomes without hand-waving.
    • You stay organized when fifteen threads are moving at once.
    • Your briefs and agreements read like something a small team would send: plain language for creators and for us, easy to scan, no filler.
    • Bonus, not required: genuine curiosity about coffee, how it is sourced and roasted, and how people brew at home. It shows up in how you brief creators and who you choose to work with.
    • A degree in marketing, communications, business, media, or a related field. Equivalent experience built through partnerships you can reference is welcome.

    Perks

    • Complimentary Origin & Story subscription while you are on the founding team.
    • Employee pricing on brewing equipment we offer (details in your offer letter).

    Compensation and time commitment

Full-time elsewhere is fine. Weekly hours with us sit in a part-time band until the company hits defined revenue targets. We set it up that way so you can keep other full-time obligations during the build phase. Remote.

Compensation combines founding equity and performance-based cash.

Equity is 2% of Origin & Story as a profit interests grant. Profit interests are the LLC equivalent of options, issued with a zero threshold based on the fair market value of the company at the grant date. Vesting is immediate monthly with no cliff. Repurchase rights on departure. Double-trigger acceleration on sale.

Performance-based cash: between 8% and 15% of Year-one Contribution on attributed subscription cash we collect from partnerships you originate and manage, as defined in our written policies. Contribution means collected revenue minus attributed cost of goods minus first-sale affiliate payouts where our 20% first-sale tracked program applies. We pay in arrears when we collect from customers. The written offer states a single percentage inside that band. There is no annual dollar cap on this performance formula.

There is no founding-team salary today. Ordinary salary for the founding team opens once Origin & Story reaches a defined revenue and profitability milestone. Profit interests stay your long-horizon instrument. Performance cash rewards channel outcomes in year one alongside that grant.

    How to apply

Apply through LinkedIn. In your note, include two partnerships you structured (what you tracked and what happened), plus one sentence on why you want to do this inside a patronage-framed specialty coffee subscription. We read every application.
