Laboratory Testing Technician (Food Science/Beverage/Coffee)

Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading food and beverage organization to identify a Testing Technician for an opportunity in Burlington, MA.

Responsibilities

· Prepare benchtop formulations by accurately measuring, weighing, blending, and packing ingredients into single-serve portions.

· Roast coffee according to established protocols and support coffee processing laboratory activities.

· Perform powder-based lab activities, including sieving materials, cleaning equipment, and supporting measurements.

· Measure moisture and degassing behavior and perform testing on formulations and finished beverages.

· Brew samples using Keurig brewers and conduct testing before and after brewing as needed.

· Label, organize, store, and ship samples while maintaining accurate sample and test documentation.

· Perform basic calculations to scale formulas and determine batch quantities.

· Record, organize, filter, and analyze testing data using spreadsheets and appropriate computer tools.

· Use internal databases to compile data, generate reports, and support testing and tracking activities.

· Manipulate Excel data to identify trends, summarize results, and support reporting.

· Prepare samples for scientists and business partners for evaluation while maintaining a clean and professional lab environment.

· Train new permanent and temporary personnel on testing techniques, methods, and documentation practices as needed.

· Troubleshoot issues involving brewers, formulations, and unexpected sample behavior, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Science; Food Science or Engineering preferred.

· Relevant experience in the food and beverage industry; coffee or coffee beverage experience is a plus.

· Basic understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety regulatory standards.

· Strong documentation, data management, and Excel skills.

· Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and work with testing data.

· Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and priorities.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and collaborative approach.

· Basic business understanding and ability to consider business and consumer needs.

Location model: 100% onsite – Burlington, MA

Schedule: Standard business hours

Position Type: 1-year contract with potential to go permanent based on performance, attendance, and business needs

Pay range: $28-$30/hr
