Lead Barista

Merit Coffee is opening in Houston, and we’re looking for a Lead Barista who’s ready to help set the tone for an entirely new market. This is more than a barista role — you’ll be a culture carrier, a standard-setter, and a key part of building a high-performing team from day one.

What You’ll Do

• Lead by example on bar, delivering exceptional coffee and hospitality
• Support daily operations including opening/closing procedures
• Coach and guide baristas on drink quality, speed, and customer experience
• Help maintain consistency in standards, cleanliness, and workflow
• Act as a goto resource for the team during shifts
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• Previous barista experience preferred
• Natural leadership presence and strong communication skills
• High attention to detail and pride in craft
• Ability to stay calm and efficient in a fastpaced environment
• A teamfirst mindset
  
  

Compensation & Training Pay

• Base Pay: $11/hour
• Training Differential: +$9/hour while in training
• This differential is designed to help bridge the gap while tip share is not yet available during training
  
  

Training & Travel Requirement (Important)

• 3week paid training in San Antonio prior to Houston store opening
• Must be available for travel during this time
