Position Overview



The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing sales team to drive growth, achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), and supporting the Company’s strategic objectives. This role oversees day-to-day sales operations at assigned location(s), including staffing, training, financial performance, and customer engagement. The Sales Manager plays a critical role in sales execution, account development, and operational excellence—while fostering a results-driven, safety-focused culture that supports long-term business success.



Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and controls expenditures to manage profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities.
  • Directs sales forecasting activities and reviews and analyzes sales data to set performance goals and promote sales.
  • Executes strategies to exceed sales goals, achieve KPIs, and effectively handle customer issues.
  • Prepare detailed sales reports outlining volume, potential growth areas, and expansion opportunities.
  • Maintains current knowledge of markets, customers, vendors, and competitors to drive business success.
  • Directs channel development and coordinates sales distribution, including establishing and assigning territories, quotas, and routing optimization.
  • Oversees development and retention of DSD accounts through direct team management.
  • Engages primarily with key customers (large, complex, or at-risk accounts) and supports sales representatives in relationship management, deal negotiation, and closure.
  • Represents the company at trade association events; may coordinate or lead special events on weekends or evenings.
  • Oversees location operations including staffing, training, inventory, financials, systems, and facilities to support revenue and financial goals.
  • Manages DSD team activities to meet objectives, including relationship building, performance tracking, issue resolution, and trade show participation.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to support overall company initiatives.
  • Builds, develops, and retains a high-performing sales team and ensures succession planning is in place.
  • Establishes short- and long-term goals for teams and individuals, leveraging data to optimize performance.
  • Participates in daily staff activities and may coordinate route coverage.
  • Promotes and enforces safe workplace behaviors and strives to achieve all safety goals.
  • Conducts warehouse walkthroughs as needed.
  • Supervises staff in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties, as necessary.



Position Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a sales environment
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Acceptable driving record required.
  • DOT medical certification required.
  • COVID vaccination may be required depending on route or customer requirements.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical required.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL may be required depending on location.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and handheld point-of-sale systems preferred.
