The Role

A dynamic, hands-on creator role spanning two core halves of the Summer Moon Coffee brand experience: social content and merchandise. The bulk of the week is social content across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, with the balance on merchandise, keeping vendors, timelines, and the details that bring each drop to life moving.

You shoot it yourself. You are the person behind the camera and in the edit, personally filming and photographing our stores, drinks, people, and moments to a high brand standard. This is not an art-direct-and-hand-off role. If you cannot capture and edit content yourself, this is not the role.

Our team sets creative direction and brand standards. You develop the shot list, align with us in pre-production, and bring it to life, from on-site capture through editing, approvals, and posting.

This is a role built to flex, and the split is not fixed at 50/50 every week. Most weeks lean social, with merchandise ramping up in the weeks around each product drop. The balance shifts with the season and the calendar, and the scope will grow as you do. We are looking for a creative, adaptable self-starter who is excited to wear multiple hats, learn our operation from the inside, and take on more over time.

Social Content

You personally shoot and edit a high-volume, always-on content engine across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Every week you are on-site with a camera and/or phone capturing original footage and photography, then cutting it into finished, beautiful content. This role is about planning ahead: building a content runway weeks in advance and mapping shoots to our campaign, launch, and LTO calendar, while staying nimble enough to jump on appropriate trends, sounds, and cultural moments in real time when they matter.

  • Keep a forward-looking content calendar on track, planning shoots and posts weeks ahead of publish dates
  • Partner with the digital team to anticipate campaigns, launches, LTOs, and seasonal moments and build content against them in advance
  • Move quickly when appropriate themes, sounds, or cultural moments call for it, balancing planned content with timely, reactive posts
  • Build shot lists and lead pre-production meetings with digital leadership and cross-functional teams to align on content before each shoot
  • Film and photograph on-site content at stores and our roasting headquarters that meets our visual and brand standards; coordinate with store GMs and baristas
  • Edit and produce a steady, high-volume stream of carousels, reels, and short-form video in Canva, Adobe, CapCut and more
  • Load content into our scheduling tool, route through approvals, and make timely revisions
  • Publish on a consistent cadence across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, with a weekly average of roughly 2 carousels and 2 reels/TikToks and scaling up during campaigns, launches, and monthly social paid ad content refresh needs each month
  • Review location pages managed by local teams for compliance with our social media guidelines; flag issues and coordinate edits with those teams

Merchandise

You own:

  • Day-to-day vendor coordination across apparel, drinkware, ceramics, and seasonal product
  • Production timelines from concept lock through delivery
  • Sampling, proofing, and quality checks against brand standards
  • Employee pre-order and ecommerce fulfillment logistics

You support:

  • Product and presentation ideas that extend the brand story
  • Opportunities to improve vendor relationships, processes, and margins

What We're Looking For

  • Must-have: genuinely skilled behind the camera. You can personally film and photograph to a high brand standard, with a real eye for light, composition, and detail. A portfolio or samples are required.
  • Able to create content that measurably supports in-store and online traffic; able to support goal of a merchandise program that is cost-neutral
  • Strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts, able to turn a moment into content that carries our brand voice
  • Sharp editing and short-form video craft in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut and more
  • Fluent in social scheduling and publishing platforms, or a fast learner ready to master them
  • Good writing skills, grammar, spelling, and attention to detail
  • Plans ahead and thinks proactively, building a runway rather than working shoot-to-publish or rushing merchandise timelines
  • Adaptable self-starter who thrives on variety and shifting priorities, and can pivot fast
  • Organized and dependable, able to juggle vendors, timelines, and a high volume of content
  • Eager to learn the operational and merchandising side of the business and grow into greater ownership
  • Required: based in the Austin area with reliable transportation for weekly travel to Driftwood, our roasting headquarters, and stores across the ATX regional area

Compensation & Logistics

Salary: $58,000 per year

Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, company paid life insurance, PTO, employee discount
