Role Description The Assistant Plant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in La Junta, CO. This role supports the Plant Manager in overseeing daily plant operations, including coordinating production schedules, monitoring manufacturing processes, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include supervising frontline team members, optimizing workflow and resource utilization, resolving operational issues, and maintaining accurate production reports. The Assistant Plant Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure timely delivery of products. This position also assists with inventory oversight, equipment maintenance coordination, and implementation of standard operating procedures within the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production & Inventory: Create blends, schedule production runs, manage green coffee shipments, and track perpetual inventory.
- Reporting & Analysis: Process purchase orders, generate monthly production/green coffee reports, and track FOB/P&L metrics.
- Safety & Quality: Serve on the Food Safety/HACCP and Crisis Management teams while ensuring full compliance with SQF standards.
- Team & Operations Support: Assist with personnel issues, applicant interviews, and day-to-day production needs.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Plant Management and Plant Operations to effectively support daily facility activities and team oversight.
- Candidates should possess skills in Operations Management and Production Planning to coordinate schedules, optimize output, and maintain efficient processes.
- Candidates should possess skills in Manufacturing Operations to ensure quality standards, safety compliance, and streamlined production practices.
- Experience in food or beverage manufacturing, particularly coffee or similar products, is beneficial.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in using production management software and basic data analysis tools is preferred.
- High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
- Ability to work on-site in La Junta, CO and meet physical requirements of a manufacturing environment, including standing, lifting, and operating equipment safely.
