Barista Shift Lead, Greater Grounds Coffee Shop - Part Time

At Greater Grounds Coffee Shop, every cup served fuels something bigger than caffeine. We are part of the Greater Good Collective, a family of social enterprises launched by Presbyterian Night Shelter, a nonprofit leader in homeless services in Tarrant County, to create dignified jobs, provide workforce training, and open doors to economic independence for individuals overcoming homelessness and other barriers to employment.

Job Summary

The Barista Shift Lead oversees daily café operations while providing excellent customer service and beverage preparation. Responsibilities include training and supporting baristas, supervising shift operations, managing inventory levels and supply orders, handling cash procedures and deposits, and ensuring cleanliness, food safety, and quality standards are maintained. This role also assists with opening and closing duties, resolves customer concerns professionally, and helps create an efficient, team-oriented work environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operating coffee equipment, including espresso machines, grinders and brewers
  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and other menu items to company standards.
  • Supervise and support baristas during daily shift operations.
  • Train new employees on beverage preparation, customer service, food safety, and café procedures.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance support to team members.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, stocking, and product rotation.
  • Handle cash transactions, balance registers, and prepare daily deposits.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing the café and completing required documentation.
  • Learn and apply latte art skills in the preparation and service of hot beverages.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of six-months food service and management or shift lead experience required.
  • Previous craft/drive-thru experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays, as needed.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Passion for mission-driven enterprise and community impact.
  • Texas Food Handlers Card License preferred
  • Valid Texas driver’s license required and proof of auto liability insurance.

Rate of Pay/Hours

$14.00 per hour

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 6:00 am to 1:00 pm

  • Will be notified two-weeks prior to any shift changes for coverage purposes
