Role Description The Catering Barista role is a part-time, flexible, with events all over the city. This role focuses on preparing and serving high-quality coffee and espresso beverages for catering events, ensuring excellent guest experiences and consistent product standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting up and breaking down mobile coffee bars, brewing and espresso preparation, and maintaining clean, organized workstations and equipment. Catering Baristas interact with guests and clients, provide friendly and efficient service, manage event flow, and represent Joe Coffee’s values and brand at off-site and in-house events. The role may involve early mornings, evenings, and weekends depending on event schedules, and requires collaboration with the catering and café teams.
Qualifications
- Strong Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills to engage guests, respond to needs, and create a welcoming environment.
- Barista experience, including espresso preparation, manual brewing methods, and drink consistency in a fast-paced setting. Latte art a must.
- Clear Communication skills for coordinating with teammates, clients, and event organizers and following event instructions.
- Food Preparation and basic food safety knowledge to handle milk, and other ingredients safely and efficiently.
- Ability to work around NYC with flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and event-based schedules.
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong time management, with the ability to set up, operate, and break down catering stations independently.
- Comfort with physical tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting or transporting equipment and supplies as needed.
- Previous experience in hospitality, events, or specialty coffee is preferred; training will be provided for candidates eager to learn.
