Summer Moon is seeking a Director of Technology to lead all technology and digital operations for Summer Moon, ensuring alignment with business goals, store operational needs, and enterprise standards. This role drives strategy and execution of resource deployment for Summer Moon, overseeing corporate and in-store hardware implementations, and software systems that support efficient, compliant, and innovative service operations across all locations.
The Director of Technology is the primary technology partner to Summer Moon’s operations and leadership teams, each location’s General Manager, and our outsourced IT service partners. This leader brings both strategic vision and hands-on project management capability, ensuring technology investments deliver measurable operational value while meeting hospitality, security, and compliance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Strategy & Digital Ordering: Oversee the ecosystem for systemwide customer interface technologies, mobile apps, loyalty programs, online ordering, and delivery integrations.
- Lead the Corporate technology strategy and execution: Lead and implement identity and access management, software subscription management, networking, AV and conferencing, and day-to-day IT support for the corporate and corporate store teams.
- Automation & AI: Evaluate and implement emerging QSR technologies such as AI-enabled resources, automated menu pricing, and operational analytics to enhance our hospitality at the store level. Help shape and grow corporate governance around AI usage across the organization, including acceptable use, training, tooling standards, data handling, and risk management.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with third-party integration partners, delivery aggregators (e.g., UberEats and DoorDash), and hardware/software vendors.
- Franchisee Enablement: Ensure corporate technology solutions are easily deployable, scalable, and cost-effective for franchise owners and field leaders.
- Security & Infrastructure: Drive cybersecurity initiatives with support of the executive technology leadership team to protect guest data, manage Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance, and oversee store-level network and cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years in enterprise technology leadership, with a strong preference for candidates with direct experience in the QSR, retail, or hospitality industries.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of cloud platforms, Microsoft Enterprise environment, POS architectures (e.g., Toast), API integrations, and back-office management systems.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and bridge the gap between technical requirements and store operations, translating technical insights into business impact.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Communication: Fluent in English, with strong executive-level communication and presentation skills.
- Professional Attributes: Disciplined, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with proven success delivering complex automation and integration projects.
- Location & Travel: The position is based in Austin, Texas. Frequent in-store presence required. Occasional travel nationwide.
