Role Description The General Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in San Diego, CA, responsible for overseeing day-to-day café operations and ensuring exceptional guest experiences. This role manages staffing, scheduling, and team performance, including hiring, training, coaching, and supporting baristas and shift leaders. The General Manager oversees product quality, inventory, and ordering, ensuring adherence to company standards for coffee preparation, food safety, and cleanliness. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring sales and labor, managing budgets, implementing local marketing initiatives, and driving store-level performance to meet operational and financial goals. The General Manager also serves as a role model for #BUZZLIFE culture, fostering a positive, inclusive work environment and resolving guest concerns promptly and professionally.
Qualifications
- Leadership and people-management skills, including team supervision, coaching, performance feedback, and conflict resolution.
- Operations management experience, such as scheduling, inventory control, cash handling, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards.
- Customer service and hospitality skills, with a commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality guest experiences in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic business and financial acumen, including understanding of sales targets, labor management, budgeting, and cost control.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, guests, and leadership.
- Previous experience in retail, restaurant, or coffeehouse management preferred; barista or specialty coffee experience is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, hospitality, or a related field is beneficial.
