Cafe General Manager – salthouse (Opening Soon)


Overview

salthouse is a new specialty coffee concept rooted in intentional space, thoughtful design, and unhurried time — a garden oasis for coffee, conversation, and community in Decatur, GA.

We are seeking a thoughtful and experienced Cafe General Manager to help launch and lead the café. This role is much more than day-to-day management — you will play a foundational part in establishing systems, shaping the guest experience, and setting the operational and cultural standards that will define what salthouse becomes.

As the on-floor leader and owners’ trusted representative, you will combine operational strength with hospitality leadership and an eye for design-forward service.


Key Responsibilities


Launch & Pre-Opening Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with ownership to finalize operating procedures, team training structures, and service standards
  • Hire and onboard the opening team, including training baristas and service staff
  • Participate in soft opening planning and execution
  • Help identify and refine workflows before and after launch
  • Shape culture and service expectations from day one


Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all daily café operations: beverage service, food prep, customer engagement
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control
  • Operate and maintain the Square POS system effectively
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and financial controls
  • Maintain food safety and cleanliness standards


Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, train, and develop café staff to uphold hospitality excellence
  • Set clear performance expectations and coach team members for growth
  • Model strong standards of professionalism, care, and consistency
  • Foster a positive environment where team members take pride in execution


Guest Experience & Brand Standards

  • Ensure every guest receives warm, consistent, and thoughtful service
  • Maintain high aesthetic and quality standards across the café
  • Address guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy
  • Protect the integrity of the space as an intentional gathering place


Qualifications

  • Prior hospitality or restaurant management experience with supervisory responsibilities
  • Experience helping build or launch a new concept preferred
  • Strong operational skills, especially in inventory, scheduling, and service execution
  • Familiarity with Square POS or similar systems
  • Coffee or barista experience is a strong plus
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational abilities in fast-paced and evolving environments
  • A hospitality mindset — thoughtful, attentive, and service-oriented
