Café d’Avignon is a New York–based artisan bakery and café group rooted in French tradition and quality craftsmanship. With our bakery and main office in Long Island City, we operate multiple café locations across NYC, serving fresh, thoughtfully prepared food made with high-quality ingredients every day.

We are currently hiring FOH Counter/Barista team members for all locations. Both full-time and part-time candidates are welcome to apply. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hospitality, specialty coffee, and delivering warm, welcoming guest experiences.

Important Note About This Role:
This position is a Counter/Barista role, meaning that training will begin at the counter position. Counter training includes guest service, POS operations, and sandwich preparation, as team members are trained to support food preparation for service as part of the front-of-house workflow. Once a team member successfully completes counter training, barista training will follow.

While prior barista experience is a plus, this is not a barista-only position. All Café d’Avignon team members are cross-trained and scheduled in both counter and barista positions based on business needs, ensuring a well-rounded and collaborative team environment. Candidates should be comfortable working both on the coffee station and supporting food preparation at the counter as part of daily service operations.

$17–$19 per hour plus tips, based on experience

Sick time accrued based on hours worked, up to 40 hours per year
Time-and-a-half pay for designated holidays if scheduled to work
Paid vacation of one week after one year of employment, two weeks after two years, and three weeks after five years

Requirements:
Weekend availability is required for both full-time and part-time positions (Saturday & Sunday are a MUST)
Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus)
Ability to complete valid I-9 verification
Genuine interest in quality food, artisan bread, and specialty coffee
Strong commitment to hospitality, teamwork, and guest service
Prior front-of-house or barista experience preferred, but not required; training is provided
