Position Overview
As a Lab Technician you will test and inspect products at various stages of the production process to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. You will directly impact our promise to deliver the best tasting premium coffee to our customers!

Position Overview
As a Lab Technician you will test and inspect products at various stages of the production process to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. You will directly impact our promise to deliver the best tasting premium coffee to our customers!
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
- Tests products at specified stages in production process and tests products for variety of quality characteristics
- Records test data
- Evaluates data and communicates effectively any deviations from existing standards
- Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics
- Enters data into computer for analysis
- Familiar with State and Federal regulatory requirements as relates to Food Safety
- Responsible for sanitation and safety of work area and maintenance of equipment in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices, AIB (American Institute of Baking) Consolidated Standards of Food Safety, and GFSI requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Performs regular calibration/validation of quality testing equipment
- May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
- Passing score on aptitude test required in lieu of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in food manufacturing environment
- Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Familiar with Quality Assurance, Statistical, and mechanical terminology
- Investigative skills

- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
- Required to taste or smell product for potential deficiencies.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Required to work with and dispose of Hazardous Materials.
- Plant Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment from production machinery is usually very loud.
