Roaster and Packaging Specialist

Position Overview

This position is responsible for roasting & packaging all Dutch Bros coffee offerings , ensuring the final product upholds Dutch Bros standard of quality. Additionally, this role will be charged with utilizing warehouse equipment and machinery to move, stack, and pack pallets of products ready to be shipped while being responsible for ensuring the roasting facility is clean and organized.

Job Qualifications

• Passion for quality coffee
• HS Diploma, preferred
• DB Cupping Certificate (Internal Program)
• DB Roasting/Packaging Certificate (Internal Program)
• Ability to troubleshoot machinery/equipment
• Required training:
• Fire Extinguisher
• Forklift & scissor lift
• Safety – general
• Safety –specific to roasting facility

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

Manage the Lifecycle of the Coffee Beans Through the Roasting Cycle:

• Prepare roasting machines prior to roasting
• Load coffee onto roasting station using forklift
• Load coffee into roaster
• Place empty burlap in an organized pile
• Monitor roast screen constantly
• Be alert to smells to detect chaff fire immediately and follow company safety policies if fire occurs
• Pay constant attention to all roasts, ensuring quality by testing color of each roast
• Safely operate forklift and scissor lift
• Use computerized roasting system to input data, evaluate the process and create input to time the process
• Empty chaff collection bin to mitigate fire risk and integrity of the roasters
  
  

Responsible For Packaging All Dutch Bros Coffee Products

• Package all blends of Dutch Bros coffee products
• Ensure all coffee distribution is timely and workflow of packaging meets company volume standards
• Check valves and ink on bags
• Ensure the quality and integrity of the coffee bags packaged coffee in boxes
• Stack boxed coffee on pallets
• Wrap pallets for shipping
• Load and unload trucks for delivery/shipment
• Help train new employees on standard functions of this position once fully trained, if needed
  
  

Ensure the Roasting Facility is Consistently Held to a High Standard of Cleanliness and Organization:

• Ensure floors are cleaned by sweeping or using air hose
• Ensure all work stations are kept clean and organized
• Ensure pallets are organized and ready for transportation

Physical Requirements

• Constant standing/walking, up to 10 hours at a time
• Occasional stooping, kneeling or crawling
• Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs
• Occasional ascending or descending on ladders and ramps
• Must be able to communicate in an effective manner to perform job duties
• Vision must be good or corrected in order to perform essential job duties
