As a Roaster Technician, You Will
- Monitor machine performance to minimize downtime and provide guidance to manufacturing partners.
- Maintain scheduled production throughput to meet team goals for reliability and budget standards. Completes required documentation.
- Operate the green, ground or roasted coffee production process, controls, and equipment.
- Assess current and future schedule requirements against actual packing and roasting status to optimize packaging machine uptime. Modifies the roasting schedule as needed to support current and future packaging requirements.
- Blend coffee and remove coffee from equipment. Load green coffee.
- Maintain coffee quality through adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines, product specifications and quality procedures.
- Monitor and document quality measures using analytical tools.
- Responsible for the management and/or implementation of food safety, legality and quality programs.
- Participate in process improvement activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Participates in roaster preventive maintenance and cleaning.
- Follow all safety and security guidelines.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to understand written and verbal policies and guidelines, specifications and safety standards
- Basic math skills
- Basic skills in Microsoft Windows and Web-based environments
- Mechanical/Technical Aptitude to troubleshoot minor equipment failures and make minor adjustments
- Familiarity with American Institute of Baking (AIB), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards
- Ability to work in accordance with quality, safety, and sanitation standards, policies and guidelines
- Operation of manual and automated processing equipment using computer-based control systems (2 years)
- Performing quality tests using analytical tools (1 year)
- Regulated food manufacturing environment (1 year)
- Using manual or automated systems to gather, record and report on operational and quality metrics (1 year)
- Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR 117) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with BRC or SQF certification schemes. (preferred)
- If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
