Role Description The Roastery Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Kahului, HI, working alongside the production team as a team lead overseeing daily roasting and production activities to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency. This role manages roasting schedules, roasting and packaging staff, maintains equipment, and monitors inventory levels for green and roasted coffee. The manager coordinates incoming orders with production capacity, ensures accurate labeling and packaging, and works closely with the sales and customer service teams to meet delivery timelines. Responsibilities include maintaining and refining operational processes, tracking quality metrics and batch consistency, and enforcing food safety and workplace safety standards. The Roastery Operations Manager also participates in cupping and product evaluation, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and contributes to training and development of roastery team members.


Preferred Qualifications (not required)

  • Operational management skills, including production planning, workflow optimization, and process improvement within a manufacturing or food/beverage environment.
  • Experience with coffee roasting operations or similar production settings (beer, spirits, etc), including equipment oversight, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Inventory and logistics capabilities, such as stock control, order coordination, and tracking of supplies and finished goods.
  • Quality control and food safety knowledge, including adherence to safety regulations, sanitation standards, and consistent product quality practices.
  • Leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising staff, delegating tasks, providing feedback, and supporting a positive, inclusive work culture.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to document processes, communicate clearly, and collaborate across departments.
  • Comfort working in a physically active environment, including standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and working around machinery.
  • Prior experience in coffee, specialty food, or beverage production is highly beneficial; familiarity with Hawaiian or Kona coffee is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in operations, business, or food science is advantageous.
