Role Description The Shift Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Virginia Beach, VA, responsible for leading store operations during assigned shifts. This role oversees baristas, supports high-quality customer service, and ensures that beverages and food are prepared to Starbucks standards. Key responsibilities include managing the flow of customers, monitoring product quality, delegating tasks, and reinforcing health, safety, and cleanliness procedures. The Shift Supervisor helps with cash handling, inventory support, and adherence to store policies, while fostering an inclusive and positive environment for partners and customers. This role also supports training, coaching, and feedback to partners to help them develop skills and deliver consistent, efficient service.
Qualifications
- Experience in customer service and retail or food service environments, with the ability to create welcoming and respectful interactions.
- Leadership and team coordination skills, including delegating tasks, motivating partners, and supporting training and coaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with partners, customers, and store management.
- Basic math, cash-handling, and problem-solving abilities to support point-of-sale operations and shift-level decisions.
- Ability to maintain store standards, including quality, cleanliness, and compliance with safety and food-handling guidelines.
- Reliability and flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Prior supervisory experience in a café, restaurant, or retail setting is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; willingness to participate in ongoing training and development is essential.
