Position Summary
The Overnight Baker is responsible for producing high-quality baked goods according to established recipes, production schedules, and quality standards. Working independently during overnight hours, this position prepares doughs, bakes products, and ensures all products are ready for opening operations. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about craftsmanship and consistency. No prior commercial/professional baking experience required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, mix, shape, proof, and bake a variety of breads, pastries, and other baked goods according to company recipes and specifications.
- Follow daily production schedules to ensure products are completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor product quality throughout the baking process and adjust as needed.
- Operate commercial baking equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment in compliance with all health and sanitation standards.
- Accurately scale ingredients and record production information as required.
- Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate supply needs to management.
- Properly store ingredients and finished products.
- Minimize waste by following established production procedures and portion controls.
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries when needed.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency, quality, and consistency.
Qualifications
- Ability to follow recipes and production instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Spanish-speaking is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including warm baking areas and refrigerated storage.
Schedule
- Overnight shifts, typically beginning in the late evening and ending in the early morning.
- Weekends and holidays may be required based on business needs.
